Easy Peach Crumble Pies with Caramel Topping

Comments are Disabled

When peaches are in season this will be one of your go-to recipes for a quick and easy dessert. This peach crumble pie comes together in less than 25 minutes. Sweet, juicy, nutty, and delicious! It’s sure to become a dessert classic.

Slicing the Peaches

After washing your peaches, the next step is to slice them. The cutting technique used here is called “Hasselback”. This technique is for cutting 3/4 way down the peaches (or other items like chicken). It’s not cutting all the way through. This makes it fun to get creative with stuffing various things with different ingredients. In this case, we are going to stuff peaches with a delicious nut crumble mixture.

Slice your peaches vertically and remove the pits. Set the half-side face down on the cutting board. Then gently slice at least 4-6 slices down the peaches. Don’t slice all the way through. After that, you will be brushing the tops with melted butter.

Making the Crumble Mixture

To make the crumble mixture, melt the remaining butter. Combine the butter with the brown sugar, cinnamon, all-purpose flour, and chopped walnuts in a medium bowl. The walnuts are optional.

I experimented with different crumble mixtures and add the walnuts to the crumble mixture was a good decision. It enhances the mixture with a nutty flavor that balances the sweetness of the cinnamon. It adds a bit of crunch too.

Recipe Tips:

  • Feel free to leave the skin on the peaches. There is no need to peel them unless you prefer to remove them.
  • Use the side of a spoon to make it easy to stuff peaches with the crumble mixture. Stuff the peaches across the top.
  • Walnuts are optional. Other substitutions can include rolled oats, other nuts or can be removed.
  • Vanilla ice cream is better than whipped topping for this pie. Tastes better. If you prefer to use a whipped topping, feel free to do so.
  • Caramel doesn’t have to be warm. It can come from store-bought caramel containers.
