Citrus, Creative Projects

A Day Full of Zest

Today is a day filled with zest! Not only is it my birthday but I have some exciting news to share with you. 🎉🍋

I’m happy to announce my next creative project. I’m working on my second self-published cookbook. It will be everything citrus (lemon, orange, lime, and grapefruit) recipes. Meals that have a citrus ingredient in them. I’ve been brainstorming this idea for a while now. I’m excited to bring it to life.

The title is TBD. I’m open to some ideas. If you have any title ideas, send them my way. I might do a naming contest. Haha.

Why did I decide to do an all citrus cookbook?

As I’ve progressed through my cooking journey, I’ve grown to love flavors of citrus. They are used in many of my favorite recipes. I’m also drawn to the flavor spectrum they offer and they have that zest/energy.

Not only the reasons mentioned above. But citrus flavors especially lemons have a special meaning for me and my cooking. I love this quote from Wanda Sykes, “When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade, make pink lemonade. Be unique.” Life can throw us some lemons at times. Even if they are ripe, their taste is still sour. But it doesn’t mean it has to stay that way.

We can decide to take a lemon and turn it into something unique like pink lemonade, a savory chicken dish, or even the most amazing dessert. It takes on a new flavor and sweeter perspective. It can help us see opportunities to learn and grow. Even create amazing things!

I love this metaphor of citrus. It gives me energy, inspiration, and creative motivation. This is why the more I’ve thought about it, it continues to make sense to pursue this concept for my next book. There’s a lot of fun ideas to explore. I’m appreciating the opportunities to grow and improve my cooking.

Can you give us a preview?

Most of the recipes will be the main dishes. There will also be salads, soups, and desserts. Lots of yummy recipes with a creative twist. And, of course, they will be simple, easy, and delicious. No complicated ingredients.

When will it be released?

Coming Spring/Summer 2021. Available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
