Ingredients

  • 1 pkg cocktail franks/mini hot dogs
  • 1 (13 oz) refrigerated pizza dough, at room temperature
  • 5 cups water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • sea salt, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Prepare baking sheet and coat with nonstick spray. Set aside.
  • Bring pizza dough to room temperature. Cut the dough into strips and stretch/roll out. Roll up franks in pizza dough so the dough wraps around twice, leaving the ends sticking out and cutting off any leftovers. Place wrapped franks on prepared baking sheet. Set aside.
  • In a small sauce pan, bring 5 cups of water to a light boil. Add in 1/4 cup of baking soda. Once dissolved, transfer wrapped franks to sauce pan. Boil in water mixture for 20-30 seconds each (working in small batches). Remove and place back on baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, whisk large egg. Then, brush each wrapped frank lightly with beaten egg and sprinkle with sea salt. Transfer to oven.
  • Bake at 425°F for 15-20 minutes until the dough is golden brown.
  • Serve immediately.
