Method
- In a large stockpot, prepare pasta shells according to package instructions. Drain well. Set aside.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add garlic and onion. Stirring frequently until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Do not burn.
- Whisk in flour, about 1 minute. Gradually add whole milk, half & half and Dijon mustard until thickened, about 4 minutes. If sauce is too thick, add 1/2 cup (or more) of whole milk. Season with kosher salt and ground pepper, to taste.
- Add pasta, broccoli and sharp cheddar cheese. Stir until well combined, about 2-3 minutes.
